Artificial Intelligence, AI, is now being used to predict risks, monitor in real time, and accelerate hazard detection, from smart devices, drones to automation systems. Innovations like these are making the workplace not only safer, but smarter and more responsive. However, we must be realistic and vigilant. If AI is not properly controlled, it can bring new risks, both physical and psychological. The matter was highlighted in the speech by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence as Minister Responsible for the Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA) during the Inauguration Ceremony for the Workplace Safety and Health Conference.
The text was read by Dayang Hajah Farida binti Dato Seri Paduka Haji Talib, Permanent Secretary for Energy at the Prime Minister's Office, as member of SHENA's Board of Directors. Yang Berhormat Pehin also touched that in Brunei Darussalam, the commitment to the occupational safety and health agenda continues to be strengthened with several reform measures taken through SHENA. The conference continued with a Special Keynote Address outlining the main perspectives framing the discussions throughout the three-day conference. More than twenty professional panellists from various sectors are involved in the conference, aside from thirty exhibition are being showcased. The conference at the International Convention Centre, Berakas is held in conjunction with the World Day for Safety and Health at Work Celebration.
